Alan ElShafei
Founder and Chief Executive Officer, EE – UIC, MBA – Benedictine University. Founder of MicroSun and initially, responsible for Sales and Operations. Mr. ElShafei, was inducted into the Chicago Area Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. Prior to MicroSun, Mr. ElShafei held the following positions: VP - Business Development and Engineering with Lexstar Technologies, Inc. (2000-2004) and VP - Engineering and Technical Sales with TDI Batteries, Inc., a division of Tyco Electronics (1984-2000). Mr. ElShafei has over 24 years of experience in the battery and portable power source industry. His breadth of experience encompasses design, direct sales, and operational experience. Mr. ElShafei is a member of the board of directors of All Cell Technologies LLC, IIT Energy Department, the President’s Forum and Association for Corporate Growth.
John Gatti
In 2010, John Gatti was appointed as President and Chief Operating Officer for the U.S. and Malaysia and also serves as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for MicroSun Electronics.
Mr. Gatti has a long and distinguished career in the aerospace and defense sector along with some commercial market experience. He has served in senior leadership positions in BAE Systems Inc., Armor Holdings Inc. and Raytheon Co. Before coming to MicroSun he was BAE Systems’ vice president and operations executive for the Integrated Security Solutions line of business and joined BAE as vice president of Homeland Security for BAE Systems, Inc. through the acquisition of Armor Holdings, Inc. where he served as senior vice president and chief technology officer and a member of the Armor Holdings’ executive committee. Prior to joining Armor Holdings, Mr. Gatti spent nearly 20 years at Raytheon Company, working through a series of increasingly responsible leadership roles in engineering, technology, manufacturing and program management. He ultimately ended his tenure as vice president of Engineering, Technology & Programs for Raytheon Technical Services Company LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Raytheon Company. Mr. Gatti has served on several Boards in his career and is currently serving on Norwich University’s Board of Trustees as a trustee and chair for their technology committee. Mr. Gatti has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Norwich University; Military College of Vermont and a Master of Science degree in Systems Design and Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Nancie ElShafei
Chief Financial Officer and Director of Human Resources, BS in Accounting – Ferris State University. Prior to Microsun in 2004, Mrs. ElShafei held the following positions: Bank of America-Leasing Division, formerly known as Fleet Boston Financial (1985-2004). Mrs. ElShafei has over 20 years of management experience in running Operations and IT Application Development. She is responsible for Accounting, Finance, Human Resource, and the Information Technology departments of MicroSun.
Thomas Golab
Vice President of Business Development, BS in Accounting, Purdue University, CPA. Prior to joining MicroSun in 2005, Mr. Golab held the following positions: Chief Financial Officer, U-Stor-It Group LLC (2003-2005), Chief Financial Officer, Lexstar Technologies Inc. and predecessors companies (1992-2003), Corporate Controller, RTO, Inc. (1989-1991), Audit Manager, KPMG Peat Marwick (1984-1989). Mr. Golab is responsible for new business ventures, legal review and as a resource for financial overview.
Omar Tabbara
Vice President of Operations, BS Biochemistry. Prior to MicroSun in 2004, Mr. Tabbara held the following positions: Senior Operations Consultant with Jacquard Associates (2001 to 2004) and R&D Analyst with TDI Batteries, Inc. (1993 to 2001). Mr. Tabbara is responsible for all aspects of Operations for both MicroSun U.S. as well as MicroSun Technologies Asia including manufacturing, purchasing and operations.
Chuck Pokonosky
Vice President of Sales and Marketing, BA Business and Economics, Illinois State University. Mr. Pokonosky started in the industry with a small Chicago based battery & cable assembler and was instrumental in growing that company from 1.2M to 175M over several years. Chuck is leading the sales and marketing effort at MicroSun and looks forward to a repeat performance to grow this relatively new company. Chuck has a proven track record and is expanding MicroSun's sales reach globally.
